4 ProCare Rate Approvals
A special mailing regarding ProCare Medicare Supplement rates for new business and renewals has been mailed to General Agents in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.

Due to overwhelming requests from the field, UA is switching from attained age pricing to issue age pricing on new business ProCare Medicare Supplement plans in Illinois, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Effective immediately, Agents should begin writing issue age business in Illinois. No attained age applications will be accepted after Feb. 1, 2003.

Please discard all attained age rate cards and brochures for these states.

Check your state(s) ProCare rate memo for complete effective date information and cut-off dates for business written with old rates. If you did not receive this notice, please contact the Agent Service Center at 800-925-7355.


4 Room Benefit Increase
The Daily Hospital Room Benefit amounts have been increased to $500 on the underage health plan HSXC in Florida and Virginia. A mailing regarding this change including new app/brochures will be sent to General Agents licensed to sell in these states.

4 Good Sense Plan Approvals
A special mailing regarding Good Sense Plan (GSP) premium rate increase approvals effective Jan. 1, 2003 for new business and renewals has been mailed to General Agents in Oklahoma.

A special mailing regarding Good Sense Plan (GSP) premium rate increase approvals effective March 1, 2003 for new business and renewals has been mailed to General Agents in Michigan, Montana, South Carolina and Utah.

4 Updated Consumer Form
Effective immediately, an updated Consumer Form (Form 3749) will be required when writing new business on the following underage health products: GSP, HSXC, MMXC and SHXC. New questions regarding COBRA have been added to ensure clients’ rights are protected.

Please order the updated form from Supply. Destroy any existing inventory of Form 3749 and begin using this updated form immediately.


4 Interest Rate Set
The Lifestyle Annuity new money interest rate for the month of January is 4.00 percent. Rates will continue to be reviewed and adjusted accordingly.

The Deposit Fund Rider interest rate for 2003 has been set at 4.00 percent.


4 Twelve Months Increase Free!
For policies sold in 2003, United American has increased its standard four month waiting period on implementing new policy rate increases to 12 months for the states and plan codes listed below. We are able to do this because of favorable experience — low claims — on these plans. Policies sold in 2003 but not effective until 2004, when the applicant turns 65, are not eligible.
