4 ProCare Rate Approvals
A special mailing regarding ProCare Medicare Supplement rates for new business and renewals has been mailed to General Agents in District of Columbia, Iowa, Montana and North Dakota.

Check your state(s) ProCare rate memo for complete effective date information and cut-off dates for business written with old rates. If you did not receive this notice, please contact the Agent Service Center at 800-925-7355.


4 Good Sense Plan Approvals
A special mailing regarding Good Sense Plan (GSP) premium rate increase approvals effective May 1, 2003 for new business and renewals has been mailed to General Agents in District of Columbia.

4 Attn: California Agents
UA has switched from Attained Age to Issue Age pricing on ProCare Med-Supp plans in California. New supplies will be sent. No Attained Age applications or rates will be accepted after June 1, 2003.

4 Interest Rate Set
The Lifestyle Annuity new money interest rate for the month of April is 4.00 percent. Rates will continue to be reviewed and adjusted accordingly.

The Deposit Fund Rider interest rate for 2003 has been set at 4.00 percent.


4 Attn: UA Life Agents
The UA Partners authorization section has been removed from UA’s RT-85 and 400 Series app/brochures. Use the UA Partners Authorization & Enrollment Form (F3840) to enroll your new business clients in the UA Partners program. Enrollment forms may also be downloaded from
www.uageneralagency.com/office.

Also, as previously communicated, the MIB Notice of Information Practices authorization is now required on all applications for life insurance. The MIB section of the app/brochure has also been revised.


4 Attn: Health Agents
The UA Partners authorization section has been removed from UA’s Good Sense Plan app/brochures. Use the UA Partners Authorization & Enrollment Form (F3840) to enroll your new business clients in the UA Partners program. Enrollment forms may also be downloaded from
www.uageneralagency.com/office.

Additionally, UA will now require the MIB Notice of Information Practices authorization on all GSP sales. The Agent’s signature as well as that of the applicant are required on the MIB Authorization located on the back of the app/brochure.


4 Attn: LTC Agents
Effective immediately, model regulations now require insurance companies to determine that the purchase, or replacement, of a long term care policy is the appropriate coverage based on the applicant’s income and assets. In order to make this determination, an LTC Personal Worksheet must be completed and submitted with all applications. Agents are required to provide applicants with a copy of the new LTC Informational Letter (Form LTCINF). These forms may also be downloaded from

4 HIPAA Privacy Rules
The HIPAA Privacy Rule becomes effective April 14, 2003, and UA has implemented policies and procedures to become compliant. Policyholders have been mailed a Notice of Privacy Practices. For further information, please log on to

4 Deposit Fund Rider Reminder
When writing DFR business, please keep the following points in mind:
The DFR is available with RT-85 business only.
Bank Draft premium payment mode is required to open the Deposit Fund.
The minimum deposit amount is $5.
The interest rate is guaranteed not to fall below 4%.
The initial deposit amount and the subsequent bank draft deposit amounts must be the same.
Additional funds may be deposited by check accompanied with a completed Transaction Form.
There is no charge or interest penalty for withdrawals.
